The Sick Relationship in Fascism Between Ruler and Follower (VIDEO and TEXT)

Text follows video, below.

We can see in the Republican Party of these times, and specifically in this Trumpian regime, an illustration of the exploitative and destructive relationship that fascistic political forces tend to establish with the people they've manipulated into supporting them.

In contemporary America, the Republican Party has long-since stopped even mentioning doing anything to improve the lives of those who vote for them.

Which raises the question, why would anyone support such a party? (E.g. why vote for a major political party that didn't even present the customary PLATFORM of promises and intentions to attract voters-- except wording that amounted to "Whatever the Great Leader wants"?)

The answer is that the fascists DO give their people something. It doesn't improve their lives, but it gives emotional satisfaction.

What they give people is 1) someone to hate, and 2) the gratification of seeing the people they've been taught to hate get attacked and injured by the political force that manipulated the people into thinking those "Others" are appropriate targets for their hatred. ("Owning the libs.")

Those targets are of two main kinds: 1) the vulnerable, like the immigrants, like minority groups (people of color, or the Jews of 1930s Germany); and those who stand in the way of the fascists gaining more and more power (like Democrats, or liberals, or a free press).

With that latter group, the fascists practice a brilliant strategy. By the single practice of demonize and attack, the fascists can both 1) solidify their hold on their support base, which fortifies the fascists' power, and 2) go to war against those who stand as obstacles to the unlimited power it is in the nature of fascism to seek.

A real two-fer, which has been practiced by tyrants for centuries, and is on display now by the group now dominating the American scene. It gives the people nothing of value, but just exploits them.
