The Ukraine transcript showed clearly that Donald Trump, President of the United States, is all out to serve himself even at the expense of the interests and security of the United States.
Now, with an ugly retweet, that same President threatens the nation with Civil War— “if the Democrats are successful in removing [Trump] from office.”
Civil war! The greatest catastrophe by far in American history was a Civil War. What kind of man would think it remotely acceptable to defend himself by threatening wounds to the nation of such depth. (That retweet speaks of the threat of “a Civil War like fracture in this nation from which our Country will never heal.”
But to Donald Trump, no cost to the nation is too high to pay when the only thing that matters is preserving his own status and power.
Any American who couldn’t see that clearly with the Ukraine transcript should surely see Trump’s utter indifference to the good of the nation now.

As the noose of the rule of law and basic requirements of the oath of office gradually slip around the neck of Trump’s presidency, this same man who dangled American military aid to extort from a leader of a threatened nation his help in hurting one of Trump’s main political rivals, is lashing out in rage.
As he lashes out, he exposes even more fully the monster that he is, so little regarding the well-being of the nation whose most important public servant he is as to threaten the nation with Civil War.
Harvard Law Professor John Coates has written that Trump’s threat represents “an independent basis for impeachment— a sitting president threatening civil war if Congress exercises its constitutionally authorized power.”

Trump accuses Rep. Adam Schiff of “Treason.” Which is but the latest illustration of Trump’s using the word “Traitor” as synonymous with “A Threat to Me!”
Every day such a man is wielding the powers of the presidency is a threat to the nation.
