Remember, It’s Not Just Trump but Also the Trump Party that Must Be Defeated
It’s not just because the Republican Party is what gave us Donald Trump.
It’s not just because the Republican Party has long chosen to be Trump’s servants, even though reportedly they know what a menace and a monster he is.
And it’s not even just because the Republican Party has chosen even now, when the President’s corrupt and criminal behavior is being laid out on the table for the entire nation to see, to protect that President and violate their oath of office by wielding lies and distractions to prevent their followers from seeing the truth.
It’s all those, plus the fact that not only does this Republican Party need to be driven from power in the coming elections, but also even if the Democrats win the White House they will need to be able to overcome a Republican Party with no interest in cooperation, or moving the nation forward, such as President Obama faced throughout his Presidency.
It is important to “See Things Whole.” Important, that is, to put the picture together and to perceive the destructive force that has given us both the disgraceful Republican Party of this era and a President who is unerring in making choices that make things worse.
That means that the impeachment battle should be fought in such a way as to turn the American public against the Trump Party as well as turning the people in favor of Trump’s impeachment and removal.
The Democrats should go after the Republicans, over their current lying-for-Trump behavior, as a way of simultaneously of showing the people what Trump has done and what the Republicans are doing that make them accomplices. (Like in serving the interests of the Russian regime by spreading lies about Ukraine that the Russian regime originated.)
The behavior of the Republicans has been demonstrably disgraceful, and the Democrats should seek the most effective ways of making them disgraced in the public’s eyes.
There will be a vote coming in the U.S. Senate, and everyone expects the Republicans there to vote to acquit. The Democrats should continually be framing that vote – in advance – as one requiring the Republicans to choose between “good” and “evil.” So that when the time comes, the Republicans who vote to acquit will be seen by as many Americans as possible for having disgraced themselves for all of history.
