I’m talking about how they’ve decided — for no good reason I can imagine — to help Donald Trump in his continuous effort to delay his trials, making it now increasingly possible that with respect to the most important of the charges with which Trump has been indicted, there will be no verdict before the American people vote in the upcoming presidential election.
I feel sick at the delay. Sick that the American people may not be enabled to learn what we all have a right to learn.
And I feel sick at what this move seems to say about this right-wing Supreme Court, that it would decide to sacrifice all this vital time to hear a case in which every multiple legal authorities declare that the Trump side’s argument (about blanket presidential immunity) is clearly without merit, absurd, and has been utterly and validly demolished by both Judge Chutkin and the DC Court of Appeals.
Sick that enough of these Supremes are willing to disregard Jack Smith’s compelling arguments about the importance of getting this meritless appeal out of the way as expeditiously as possible.
