Underscoring What We Heard from David Nir and Norman Ornstein: Plan for Control of House

I was contemplating writing something about the need for the Democrats to plan for the possibility that they might get control of the House — presumably briefly — during this session of Congress. The idea is that the GOP has such a narrow margin, and the Republicans (like Buck and Gallagher)  are heading for the exits fast enough that it’s conceivable the Democrats could overtake the GOP in Members of the House and then be able to get some things done.

That’s a great opportunity and even if it’s not probable that change of control will take place, it’s important enough that thought should be put into exactly how the Democrats would proceed — in sync with the Senate and President Biden — to get good things accomplished that could never get done with this destructive Republican House gang in charge.

Then I came across an article by David Nir — The GOP could lose the House before Election Day. Here's how Democrats get ready — that reported on the thinking of a real expert on Congress, Norm Ornstein on this same subject. Expert that he is, Ornstein went way beyond knowing that some planning is called for and laid out some important elements of such a plan.

Rather than recap the excellent points made by Ornstein and reported in Nir’s piece, I would like instead to recommend that piece to all. (I doubt anyone needs to tell Minority Leader Jeffries; I expect Ornstein has conveyed these ideas to hm directly.)
