Israel knowingly escalated when they attacked an Iranian embassy/consulate on April 1. Why, knowing that Iran would be compelled to retaliate? Iran has retaliated in what military experts called a "disproportionate" manner. Why, unless they were counting on Israel to retaliate in return? Both seem to be choosing a showdown. I don't want to be right, but both are making choices that they must know will lead to escalation.
