George Conway’s recent Podcast conversation on Bulwark, with Sarah Longwell, bears the headline “Everyone Stop Freaking Out About Scotus.” Then adding that “Everyone needs to Calm Down.”
In this video, I say: “Au contraire! What we saw in the Supreme Court, as it considered Trump’s utterly bogus claim of presidential immunity, should ring alarm bells all over America.”
First there’s the terrible news: The Supremes have sided with the criminal against the Rule of Law. And thereby, they’ve betrayed the unusually great public interest in having a trial before the Election so that the people of America will know the truth about these most serious charges before they vote for or against the accused.
Then there’s the even worse news: what the Supremes, in this case, have revealed about what kind of Supreme Court this is— not just for this matter, but in rendering judgments on a great many of America’s major issues for years to come. They’ve revealed that they are not only aligned with a partisan force, but that they’re aligned with the most fascistic political party in American history.
