There are reports that Trump is pressuring Republicans in Congress to shut the government down by not funding its continued operation. (And it’s all on a bogus pretext: pretending that there’s a problem of non-citizens voting.)
People don’t like government shutdowns.
Tying Trump to this approaching possible shut down can define it in people’s minds that something they don’t like was Trump’s doing. Perhaps it could deter the Republicans from going through with their threat.
But if Trump continues to demand a shutdown, and if — once again, the R’s follow the mob boss’s orders — then Trump and the Republicans can be made to pay a political price for irresponsibly playing games with the people’s welfare for their own political advantage.
And this can be tied to Trump’s telling his minions in Congress to kill the Border Bill, even though it was a virtual wish-list for Republicans over the years on the immigration issue. Trump wanted the immigration issue to fester longer so he could exploit it in the presidential campaign.

The Harris campaign should jump on this now, simply on the basis of the presumably reliable reports that Trump is playing this irresponsible role. Use it to show once again how he puts his own interest above the welfare of the American people.
